WORLD AMR AWARENESS WEEK

At UDUYARS, we see World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) as more than a calendar event; it is a movement that brings people together, sparks meaningful conversations, and inspires collective action against the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.

Since our founding, our youth teams have celebrated WAAW every year with energy, creativity, and community impact. From school outreaches, art exhibitions, and awareness rallies to panel discussions and social media campaigns, each activity is designed to help people understand antimicrobial resistance and what they can do to stop it.

What makes our WAAW campaigns truly unique is how we bridge global messages with local realities. We translate complex scientific terms into everyday language, use local dialects to reach underserved communities, and infuse art, storytelling, and innovation to make science relatable.

Each year, our campaign grows stronger, reaching over 3,000 young people, students, and community members across Sokoto and beyond. Through these efforts, we continue to amplify youth voices, promote responsible antibiotic use, and champion a One Health approach that protects people, animals, and the environment.
