AMR ART EXHIBITION

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Young Antimicrobial Resistance Stewards (UDUYARS) hosted the first-ever Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Art Exhibition in Sokoto, marking another milestone in the movement to make science more accessible and relatable through creativity.

The exhibition brought together over secondary school and university students, creatives, and academics, showcasing how art can serve as a universal language to communicate complex health issues such as AMR. Using painting and poetry to drama, spoken word, and calligraphy, young talents demonstrated that behavioural change begins when science meets culture and creativity.

Many attendees described the experience as “an eye-opener that proved art communicates complex phenomena clearly”

UDUYARS celebrated outstanding creativity by awarding prizes and certificates to top-performing students across categories. The winners were drawn from Brilliant Footsteps International Academy, Blue Crescent Schools, and Federal Government College Sokoto, all of whom inspired audiences with innovative perspectives on prevention, responsible antibiotic use, and the One Health approach.

The success of this exhibition was made possible through the dedicated support of our partners — Book O’clock and the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Student One Health Innovation Club (UDUSOHIC).

    Participant Reflections:

Seeing young people use poetry, drawings, and performances to advocate for change reminded me that awareness can be both powerful and beautiful.”

It highlighted the need for collective responsibility and education in addressing AMR. Through creativity, UDUYARS made a scientific issue feel human — something every person can act upon.”
